Just like a Phoenix...

All good things must be resurected. Due to my Itec class, I must create a blog. Fortuately or unfortunately, I decided to blog in here again. Most likely this will only be a personal one, but I will most likely create a new blog for my students and parents. This should be interesting due to that the ODE (Ohio Department of Education) is asking all future teacher to cease and eliminate all Facebook, Myspace, and other forms of internet networking sites.

Life has been hectic. Right now is spring break, but unfortunately, I'm stuck in Ohio with so much catch up work to do.

Some good news, after I get a B in Intro. to Deaf Studies in the summer, I can apply for the Deaf grant!!! Which by the way will pay for 2 years of school and a 600.00/ mo stipend. It will be a lot of work, especially working full-time and now that most of my classes are pre-advanced study which require quite a bit of observation/clinical hours. Many hours of sleepless days are in my near future.

Speaking of sleep... less than 7 hrs till work.

As I sit here laying in bed thinking about this weekend, I realize I didn't get much done except for sleep. Albiet that I totally needed the sleep, but I also needed to get some work done for classes. I have a mid-term in American Sign Lang. on Wed, 2 500 word essays due the same Wed. A 1 page paper due on Tues, along with playing catch up with studying my Exceptionalities class, doing all the mini work assigned for that class.

I did get my Sociology notes copied into the computer and emailed a classmate a summary of what I thought of the video for the one paper due on Tues. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. Working full-time and going to school full-time is taxing my body. I litterally slept from 2 pm on Friday to 2 am on Sunday morning. Well, there was a couple of times when I needed to wake up for food and other things important to keeping a clean bed, but other than that... ZZZZZZZZZZ!!

I work tonight. I have my cousin's Eagle Scout Court ceremony to attend today. I still need another nap.

Only roughly 8 more weeks till summer!!

I must state that I usually start one of these blogs, then some how some way life interrupts or I just get bored with it. Hopefully this isn't the case with this one. What my plans are with this blog is to tell my thoughts about being an 30 something college student who's pursuing a teaching degree for Deaf / Special Education. Eventually, the blog will tell of my student teaching, first year mayhem and hopefully move on to a more relaxed and experienced teacher mode.

About me: I would love to say that I'm a nerd, but more likely I'm just living vicariously through my friends/students. Most of my students (I teach Taekwondo) are learning about stem cell research, biomedical engineering, or some advanced technology that has not even been published yet.

I live in Ohio, a great state to grow up in and to come back to, but not one for making a life in the between time. I would love to move to Germany or some other European country, but for now I'll settle for anywhere but Ohio.

My major is Deaf Education. With so many classes being similar to Special Education, I may just end up getting my Master's in Special Education ( approx. a year longer) Right now I have a 4.0 in my major. Shhh... I've only taken one class (American Sign Lang I) and got an A in it.
